About Rumen Spasov
Born in 1968 in Bulgaria, Rumen Spasov is a multidisciplinary artist, working with various mediums and experimenting with different techniques and art forms. In the beginning of his proffesional career he was painting mostly figurative art, but within the years he found his strong passion for the abstract art with its borderless possibilities of the means of expression. His creative process, unfolds the forms in a continual play between control and letting go. This allows him to express directly the creation impulses. What is more typical for his abstract paintings is the refined style. It doesn't matter if it's an objective or nonobjective abstraction, if accidental discoveries appear in the process of painting, they are intelligently employed to work. The colors are carefully selected to speak in one language and to complete the overall harmony of the paintings. To Rumen the abstraction is like musical improvisation, even there's no depicted real subjects and forms, the viewer can experience different feelings and perceptions.
Rumen's paintings are owned by collectors in the States, Europe and Asia and decorate the walls of many private offices and administrative buildings in Bulgaria. He makes solo shows almost each year and takes part in group exhibitions the year around. Through the years he had exhibitions in Los Angeles, Czech, France, Germany and Bulgaria.

About the Product
In this acrylic expression, I dove deep into the visceral realm of human emotion. The brushstrokes capture the subject's inner turmoil and contemplation, utilizing an expressionist touch to convey a complexity of feelings. This figurative work embodies the search for understanding, symbolically painting not just a portrait, but a soul's questioning moment. It's designed to energize the viewer's home with introspection and provoke personal reflection.
It is one of my large scale portrait works, done with acrylics over stretched canvas with jute fabric.
In these expressive close-up portraits my intent is to get beyond the regular facial features, catching clear psychological emotion. Hopes, dreams, pain, disappointment and such, all of them too human emotional conditions are among the themes I'm working on. The combination between the roughness of the jute fabric and fine art painting gives more deepness and physical feeling to the work.
The painting measures 80 x 120 x 2 cm.
