About Natalia Shchipakina
Painting has been my passion since childhood. Among many different techniques oil painting is my favourite.
Themes of my paintings are as variegated as our world: cities, people, life, animals, dramatic art, nature. I am greatly influenced by such famous artists like Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Isaac Levitan, Auguste Renoir. My work was strongly influenced by Picasso.
The painting Girl on the Ball made a big impression on me in my childhood.

The painting depicts the face of a black woman. Her fingers with black nails are close to the mouth. Her gaze is not directed towards the observer. The work depicts Cesaria Evora, a Cape Verdean singer-songwriter nicknamed the «Barefoot Diva» (for performing without shoes) and the «Queen of Morna» (morna is a music genre from Cape Verde). The author of the painting used his own artistic technique, which made it possible to convey the depth of the singer's soul through her staring gaze. Canvas on a panel (cardboard).
