About Natalia Shchipakina

1Exhibition

Painting has been my passion since childhood. Among many different techniques, oil painting is my favourite.

Themes of my paintings are as variegated as our world: cities, people, life, animals, dramatic art, nature. I am greatly influenced by famous artists such as Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Isaac Levitan and Auguste Renoir. My work was strongly influenced by Picasso.

About this artwork

Dionysus. The god of the grape harvest, winemaking, festivity and theatre in ancient Greek religion and myths. He is also known as Bacchus (the name adopted by the Romans). This work is an attempt to combine the ancient art of sculpture and modern conceptual painting. The colourful background is a very important part of this work. I paid a lot of attention to the different tones I used. Oil on canvas. Signed. Varnished.
