Artist

About Aleksandr Dubrovskyy

Mr Aleksandr Dubrovskyy was born in 1949 in Oryneno, Khmelnytsky Oblast, Ukraine.
He started painting early. Painting was his most favoured occupation, beyond all usual boyish interests and activities.
At seven he was admitted to the art school for children in Yenakiieve; at 16, Aleksandr entered Kharkiv College of Art (1965).

In 1969, after graduating from the College of Art, he travelled a lot and worked assiduously on portrait and landscape painting.
His continuing work at the academic villa in Sednyov offered Aleksandr a happy and unique opportunity to work together with, and learn from, such eminent painters as Konstantyn Lomykin, Fedor Zakharov, Nikolay Glushchenko, Viktor Shatalin, and Tatyana Yablonskaya. They profoundly influenced his artistic formation. Sednyov... this marvellous nook of Ukraine became the artist’s creative workshop.

About this artwork

Part of Aleksandr Dubrovskyy's rare Bali series, Sunny Beach captures the vibrant energy of Bali's southern coastline, where turquoise waters meet golden volcanic rocks beneath the tropical sun. Created during the artist's extended creative period on the island, this painting reflects the unforgettable atmosphere of Bali's ocean landscapes.

The powerful movement of the waves, the warm coastal light and the rugged shoreline are expressed through rich impasto brushwork and luminous colour harmonies characteristic of Dubrovskyy's impressionist style. Viewed from the cliffs of Bali's famous Bukit Peninsula, the scene reveals the meeting of ocean, rock and sunlight in a moment of natural beauty.

The swirling water and sunlit coastline create a sense of movement, freedom and tranquillity that has attracted artists and travellers to Bali for generations. Paintings from Dubrovskyy's Bali period form a distinctive and highly collectible chapter in his artistic career.

Combining direct observation, plein-air inspiration and expressive oil technique, Sunny Beach preserves the spirit of one of the world's most celebrated tropical coastlines. The painting is signed on the front and back, professionally packed and shipped with tracking and insurance, and finished with archival-quality varnish to preserve its colour brilliance.
