About Natalia Shchipakina

Painting has been my passion since childhood. Among many different techniques oil painting is my favourite.

Themes of my paintings are as variegated as our world: cities, people, life, animals, dramatic art, nature. I am greatly influenced by such famous artists like Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Isaac Levitan, Auguste Renoir. My work was strongly influenced by Picasso.

About this Artwork

Pulled rickshaw is a Japanese phenomenon from the 19th century. Pulled rickshaws were popular not only in Japan – it was part of an Asian culture. Hand-pulled rickshaws were widely banned because they were symbolic of a feudal world.
