Ocean Dreaming is a large original oil painting seascape of a serene white ocean seen from the beach. It is 60x36x1.5 inches. The style is impasto (thick paint) and semi-abstract. The sun can be seen above the sea beaming in all directions but in very muted colours. The viewpoint of the painting gives you the feeling you are standing right at the edge of the white rippling waves possibly about to wade in. It is a calm sea and looks inviting. It is called ocean dreaming as many people dream whilst looking at the sea. It is a therapeutic place to be and I wanted to capture some of that feeling from my own ocean dreaming moments. The painting is very textured and was built up over several layers of paint so that odd little lines and blobs show through. I like this as it contrasts with the flat horizontalness of seascapes.
